BLANCO River
This river is the jewel of the Hill Country and my home waters. A float trip down this pristine spring fed River is a true vacation. The Blanco River’s crystal clear waters flow through breath taking canyons with miles of miles of unspoiled nature where wildlife abounds. Visitors share the river with wood ducks, hawks, kingfishers and osprey. With limited public access due to private land bordering the river, the Blanco River has remained uncrowded and unspoiled.
The river is home to the the Guadalupe Bass, the state fish of Texas, smallmouth and largemouth Bass. Anglers are also treated to the occasional catfish as well as several species of sunfish. The Blanco’s forgiving river bottom combined with clear water makes for easy wading and excellent site-casting opportunities for trophy river bass.
FISHING SEASON | March—June and September—November: The fishing is most consistent mid March through early June and mid September through the end of November. The Summer months can be tough going due to reduced river flows and the extreme heat. We monitor the river flows daily looking for variables like isolated area rainfall and aquifer levels. Due to the stress on the fish and increased pressure I don’t fish the Blanco River during these months.
